Easter Basket Favorites

Paraphrasing from the now immortal words of Sophie Turner, “In honor of Easter, I guess Courtney Pittman Beauty wanted the timeline to have a little Easter bunny hop, hop, hoppin’ into that basket… and that’s the tea,”

I’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback on my Easter basket full of my current can’t live without favorite beauty products. Some of these are my old faithfuls and some are new for me. So I figured this is a great way to start a new “favorites” series for the blog.

I’m going to start with the cosmetics in my basket first. As y’all know, I love a good locally made product. And two of these cosmetic lines are local. And every product listed here is cruelty free!

Ashley Sievert Beauty is practically a New Orleans staple. Most makeup artist I know not only use the products but have them in their kits. I’ve been using the Mineral Velvet Creme foundation in the shade Milan for a few years now. Since it is locally made and is waterproof, I like to believe it was created specially for Southern brides. It stays on even during the hottest most humid days. The Spotlight highlighting concealer is great for giving your under eyes an extra POP of brightness. It is applied after concealer and in smaller areas. Trophy Wife is one of my favorite things ever! This bronzing powder is not your normal matte bronzer, it is gilded and gives you a shimmering bronzed look.

I’ve written about my love of Kismet Cosmetics before and nothing has changed. The CEO lipstick is one of the newest shades and I’ve been kicking myself for not getting it the day it launched. It is a perfect peachy nude for me. Not too pink, not too peachy, not too nude. I LOVE IT! The Baby lip gloss is just wonderful. Super soft sheer pink and a great natural plump that wont give me an allergic reaction (as discussed in a previous blog post). The Opulent bronzinsg lotion is new for me. Since I am basically half ghost I don’t tan naturally at all and rarely use self tanners or get spray tans. But I guess I was feeling frisky and wanted to try Kismets body bronzer out. I am very pleasantly surprised at how much I love it. It is very easy to apply, I don’t have to wait hours to shower, the results are instant, and there is zero fake tanner smell! Thanks to Opulent I will be happily wearing shorts all summer.

I love Colourpop Cosmetics! I use at least one product a day when I do my makeup! The Crème de la Crème highlighter palette is my favorite for my personal daily use. It is not the usual Super Shock highlighter formula, this is pressed powder. This palette has 4 golden sheen colors: ivory, rose, peach, and lavender. If you have any questions, I could talk about Colourpop all day long!

AIIR Professional is my newest-ish obsession! I saw “ish” because I’ve been obsessed with the creator of Aiir, Jenny Strebe aka @theconfessionsofahairstylist, for a long time! She is one of my favorite hairstylists. I have learned so much from watching her hairstyles. One day, hopefully soon, I’ll be able to attend one of her classes. AIIR Professional launched earlier this year. This is a high-performance line made with crystals, gemstones, and other natural botanicals. The Hair & Energy Refresher is the first product released. This refreshing mist not only tames fly-aways but also uplifts your energy and surroundings. It’s a great pick me up. A couple of years ago I discovered texture spray and it changed my life!! Since then, I’ve been on a mission to try them all. Texture AIIR is my newest one to try. This dry texturizing spray delivers a soft yet gritty texture and shine. It keeps your hair style and is brushable. I am looking forward to more products from AIIR Professional!! I can’t wait to see what they do next.

I’ve been seeing Design.ME used by stylist online for years! I’m pretty sure Puff.ME is used by almost everyone on Instagram and YouTube. Well almost a year ago I finally got some and I’ve been using it constantly since!! Seriously I buy 2 or 3 at a time, just so I don’t run out! Puff.ME is a volumizing texture powder with a pump, for easier application. This product is great for back combing hair, gives updos a stronger texture, and makes braids HUGE! Gloss.ME is a hair serum infused with Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil. This oil delivers an instant shine, helps fights frizz, it strengthens and nourishes the hair strands. I’ve never been a huge hair serum or oil person since my hair gets greasy quickly and I hate washing my hair. I am very happy to have found one that I like! 2 pumps and my hair is silky and manageable.

I hope you enjoyed reading about these products and even try some of them yourselves. I’m excited to share more favorite things with you as I find them.

Positively Radiant

Let me start by saying I do NOT regularly use, buy, or sell Rodan + Fields. Please do not message me about joining your team. [Seriously its taken me months to write this post, imagine how bad at sales I’d be LOL]

I am writing this to review 1 product and my experience.

This September I had the privilege of working at the R+F convention doing hair and makeup backstage for the executives. It was such an amazing and educational experience for me. I got to learn about the company from the people who create the products and run the company. Before the convention all I knew about R+F was that it was skincare products and sold by Facebook friends. After spending almost a week with the family that is the creators all the way down to the beginner members, I could see why people like the products so much and “drink the R+F kool-aid.”

The highlight of my time at the convention was being present for the launch of R+F’s newest product Radiant Defense Perfecting Liquid. As a thank you, I was gifted the product line. After months of use, here is my review!

Radiant Defense is considered Dermacosmetic; which to me is a fancy tinted moisturizer. It has Broad Spectrum SPF 30 and oil free. It comes in 6 shades: Shell, Beige, Sand, Golden, Almond, and Espresso. I am a Shell.

Application of this product is very simple! Use after your skincare regimen. You need only a use a small amount, a little bit goes a long way (which is good because this is kind of pricey). It is paired with a Radiant Defense Liquid Brush. I personally love the brush because of how soft it is, but I wouldn’t consider it necessary.

Upon my first experience using it on the executive I was working with, it was VERY shiny. She obviously had excellent and healthy shiny skin. To combat the shininess, I used translucent setting powder.

However using it on myself it gives my skin a nice glow. I have pretty good normal skin, I honestly don’t take the best care of it and don’t often get breakouts. I like like the lightweight semisheer coverage. On myself, Radiant Defense is able to show my freckles and cover any blemishes. It kind of has a blurring and dewy effect. Which I love!

For these photos I chose to only fill in my brows, wear mascara, and a tinted lip balm. I also did not edit or filter these photos because I want show how natural this product is.

Overall I am very happy with this “dermacosmetic”. It has become my weekday foundation. I am even adding it to my makeup kit. For when I have clients who don’t wear makeup but want a small amount of coverage.

I run on coffee, dry shampoo, and LIPSTICK

As everyone who knows me I am lipstick obsessed... To the point where I usually have 5-7 lip products in my purse at a time (one time there was 13. Sorry not sorry). Last I counted I had 10 red lips just in case.

A couple of months ago I had the opportunity to work Kismet Cosmetics for the launch of their new FIXED Foundation. Kismet, is a local cosmetic line with a ton of lipsticks. I had been curious about the company for a while but hadn’t had the chance to try them yet. It was so great getting to meet the owner and learn all about the company; cruelty free, made in the USA, natural ingredients. Besides lipsticks of every application type and finish, they have an amazing lash growth serum that can rival R+F, a bronzing body butter, lip scrubs, mascara and eyeliner, and bath bombs. All some of my favorite things.

So clearly I had to go a little crazy and order a ton of lippies!!! I have been extremely happy with every lipstick and gloss I’ve gotten.. And as many as you know, I’m not the biggest gloss fan; I prefer a matte liquid lip. It gets in my hair and face while doing blowouts and chasing a toddler. But these aren’t super sticky!

BUFF Sugar Lip Scrub

BUFF Sugar Lip Scrub

Before I show and tell all of the lippies. We have to prep our lips with BUFF Sugar Lip Scrub. Kismet offers this all-natural sugar scrub formula in 7 delicious scents. Naturally I picked LEMON TO MY CELLO. I’ve tried other lip scrubs; ones that are too rough, ones that are too oily, and this one is just right for me. Just rub a little on your lips, scrub, and lick or wipe it off. Now you’re ready to do your lipstick.

VELVET Traditional Lipstick

VELVET Traditional Lipstick

I feel like I haven’t work lipstick from a traditional tube in forever! But these colors and velvety soft formula are everything. The VELVET Traditional Lipstick collection has semi-matte and metallic finishes and moisturizes your lips while you wear it. There are so many colors to choose from, I already have the rest of them in my shopping cart.

The colors shown from top to bottom:

NAKED GYPSY- A true nude with a slight hint of pink. This is a little too nude for my ultra fair skin to be worn alone, but I like it with a gloss.

BELOVED- A warm nude. This will be my go to color for the fall months.

HEY BABY- Mauve with a metallic shimmer shade. It is universally flattering since it was developed for the LSU Golden Girls.

ROSY POSY- A pink that is the perfect in between of bright pink and baby pink.

PRECIOUS RUBY- Red with a metallic shimmer. Perfect for the holidays.

BURNOUT- A red with blue undertones.. Such a classic color.

SUCCULENT Liquid Lipstick

SUCCULENT Liquid Lipstick

If an opaque lipstick and a lip gloss had a baby, it would be this! This SUCCULENT Liquid Lipstick collection is to die for. I will admit that it is hard to wear on busy days where I am doing a lot blowouts. But on date nights this is my go to. I love the all over coloring and the glossy texture. It has just the right amount of sticky that it easy to wear all day long.

The colors shown from top to bottom:

LINGER- A neutral shade of brown.

ELOPE- A pinky brown.

CLASSIC- A pinky nude.

COME PLAY- A bright orchid pink.

MOMENT- A deep red.

POLISHED Lip Plumping Gloss & SUEDE MATTE Liquid Lipstick

POLISHED Lip Plumping Gloss & SUEDE MATTE Liquid Lipstick

I’ve always stayed as far away as physical possible from lip plumpers... There was this one incident during a hurricane evacuation in Houston that involved “Lip Venom” gloss and a badddd allergic reaction.. My mom still talks about it regularly. Consider my lesson learned.

My very first Kismet product was a gloss called REALLY PRETTY. It had been highly recommended to me and I want told it was one of their most popular colors. I was so excited because just like it’s name, “it’s like really pretty!” I wore this lip gloss for 3 days straight before I realized it was a lip plumping gloss!! The natural collagen peptide complex plumps your lips without that burning tingling feeling others have. These are now my everyday lip products. Nice sheer color that’s lightly sticky enough for coffee, lunch, and running errands.

The colors shown from top to bottom:

REALLY PRETTY- A true neutral.

BABY- A shiny nude with the slightly hint of pink.

I’ve been very outspoken about my love of matte liquid lipsticks. Sadly this is the one Kismet lip line that I have the least about of. But since I’ve been so obsessed with everything else I forgot to get other SUEDE Matte Liquid Lipsticks. Don’t worry I already have them in my shopping cart waiting for me to press “complete order”

Color shown on bottom:

EVERYTHING- A light peachy pink.

Kismet Cosmetics offers so much more than the lipsticks shown above and is an all around great product line.

Literally... We are in the process of remodeling almost our entire house to make room for our growing family AND designing my “glam room”.

I’m so sorry I haven’t posted any blog content or updated anything! I am working on it. As soon as I have a proper space I can finally write, post, and share!

HELLO 2018! (I have every intention of kicking your booty!)

So much has happened and is happening!

A couple months ago Latest Hairstyles found me on Instagram and asked me to do an interview about an updo I had done. They recently asked me to do another interview about a style I did for my friend for date night.  (Click the picture to see the interview.)

I was approached by RAW Artist to participate in their show in February! I've heard of the showcase and have known people who've done the show, but I've never been. This is potentially huge for me! I will be picking and styling my own models to showcase my work.. I AM SO EXCITED! I'm picturing Boho Disney Princess + Bridal Game of Thrones + Flowers.. Can you just see it?!?!

PLEASE go visit my page and purchase tickets so you can come support me and help me grow as an artist!

I have high hopes and so so so much planned for this year! I want to do more weddings and dances/balls. I want to remodel the house and design my glam room (very deep dreaming on this one). I'm planning some fun tutorials and styled shoots.

The best is yet to come ♥

xoxo, Courtney

Hello Beautiful

HI! Welcome to Courtney Pittman Beauty!

I'm Courtney. I figured I should introduce myself and give a little back story of who I am and why I made this website and blog. I'm an Aveda Institute graduate and have been doing hair for almost 4 years. I currently work at BLEU, A Blowdry Bar in Metairie and New Orleans, LA. I also work freelance for on location services. I knew going into beauty school that I wanted to specialize in styling and event hair. I am a Disney Princess at heart and want everyone who sits in my chair to leave feeling like one too.

I am a New Orleans local born and raised, and I lived in Texas for a few years. (Thus the Houston phone number that I'll change one day.) I am married to my Prince Charming and have an amazing little boy.
