2021 January - July

Remember how I posted my only blog post of 2020 saying how it would be the year of me and I would be posting a lot? Yeahhhhhhh that didn't happen. 2020 was rough for everyone. But let me let me tell you 2021 has been amazing! So let's talk about that!

In April I asked a dear friend you remind me monthly to write and post on the blog (J, I love you please keep sending me reminders). It is late September and I have written NOTHING. Not to make excused but I have been non stop busy and experiencing wonderful growth and opportunities which I'll tell you about now.

From January to May I was booked solid with weddings, trials, family photos, ect, only 2 Saturdays off but worked on many Fridays and Sundays.

In January I was able to take a spur of the moment (kid free) 2 day trip to Walt Disney World with some great friends who also do hair and makeup... Seriously if you do Disney, bring a hairstylist with you! If you are ever in the Lafayette area I highly recommend calling Ashley Jones and Alexas Braud for you beauty needs.

While in Walt Disney World I found out that a small wedding I had done hair for was being published in New Orleans Wedding magazine. Talk about a magical moment in a magical place! The bride Courtney was a goddess and I adored her dress! Walking into the bridal suite I found out the makeup artist was the fantastic Meghan Fisse (attach link to Meghan's page). It it always a pleasure to work with Meghan. To have my name published in NOW magazine felt a huge accomplishment to me.

After months of planning and life causing us to reschedule in May I was finally able to see Theresa Elizabeth Photography and take new headshots. Any time spent with Therese is filled with laughter and champagne. With 2 outfit changes and 2 hair changes my dream headshots came true.

In June I traveled to Monroe LA for the Miss Louisiana Outstanding Teen pageant. My longtime client and birthday twin Sophia finally got her dream come true to compete in pageants. Sophia is already a goddess so we knew it would be a fun weekend. Sophia's mother and I have been social media friends for 10 years now and have watched each other and our children grow. When I started doing hair and makeup professionally we became friends in real life. I adore them. Having never done pageants myself I had no idea what to expect. The weekend consisted of waking up early to style Sophia's hair. Packing a hair and makeup touch up bag for her. And then watching her preform that night. Come Sunday we were all tired and ready for our beds but then the top 10 was announced, followed by top 5, THEN OUR GIRL WAS CROWNED MISS LOUISIANA'S OUTSTANDING TEEN 2021... Once the screaming stopped we knew we needed to start planning for nationals in Orlando in July!

July was time for the Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageant. Just like in June I traveled to Orlando to be with Miss Louisiana's Outstanding Teen 2021 Sophia Nawaz and her mother Michelle. The night I arrived Michelle and I had a cocktail and made a game plan for the weekend. Once Sophia was moved into the pageant room with all the other Outstanding Teens she was on her own with hair and makeup. So that mean 5:30am hair styling that would stay all day! Sophia and I decided on our signature style that I love to do with her hair... A Princess Jasmine style bubble ponytail. We did this same hairstyle for all 3 days of the competition. For the final night I made the bubble ponytail and we transformed it into an easy chic half up style what would be perfect with her finale ballgown.

Sophia may not have taken home the national title but I was forever awestruck of her beauty and talent.

After the competition there was a private after party for the contestants and their family in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley. I wore a floral puff sleeve babydoll dress, platform sandals, and a fabulous headband from my favorite headband shop Iris Atelier. I styled my hair in a multilayer topsytail side braid. For makeup I did an soft medium smokey eye with gold accents and wispies lashes, a golden highlight, and warm rosey lip.

I will make more posts about my fall months and all the crazy busy beautiful fun!

XOXO Courtney
